I got this yummy salad from my Grandma, she made it for a family get together last Sunday and I just jumped on it. I love a good green salad and this one it really good. I don’t really have a name for it, so if any of you have suggestions please speak up and you can have bragging rights if I pick your name.
Here are the ingredients:
2 apples, chopped but not peeled
1 cup cashews
1 cup crasions
1 cup swiss cheese, shredded
2 chicken breasts, chopped
1 head of read lettuce, washed and shredded
For this salad we are going to make our own dressing
Dressing Ingredients:
2/3 cup Olive Oil
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp Deli Mustard
1/4 tsp onion salt
1 Tbsp Poppy seeds
Put all the ingredients in a blender or bowl, and whisk (or blend) until everything is mixed well and the sugar is dissolved.
(sorry blurry picture)
Add all the ingredients to lettuce and toss, then add the dressing and toss again.
This beautiful salad makes a great side dish (omit the chicken) or a wonderful main dish with some french bread.
That looks yummy. I don’t do lemon juice in certain things though and salads are one of them… LOL Must be traumatizing childhood memories or something 🙂
Both salads look Yummy!! Just in time for Easter, I need to bring a side dish, and there is nothing like a new dish to bring. Thanks
I made your salad from yesterday this morning and it is yummy. I didn’t have everything on hand but most of it and what I did have is really good. I used macaroni instead of bow ties since that was in my food storage LOL.
I made 4 dozen deviled eggs Saturday for a wedding and then donated 3 dz along with 4 loaves of bread to the charity bake sale on Saturday as well. That left me with a dz left now my bowl is full
again LOL. Busy little ladies in the spring aren’t they?:0) Do you use some of your eggs in your salads?
Erika
so i gotta ask, is deli mustard the same as brown mustard? or is more like spicy mustard (which are also basically the same)…
That looks so good! My mouth is watering!
I’m going to have to stop reading your blog at night… Now I’m hungry!!!
Sounds really good! I love craisins and Swiss cheese:) Do you think goat cheese would work in the salad? Got some Gjetost I need to use up.
Blessings, aimee
