Nothing particularly interesting has been going on around these parts.
We have been happily going about the business of the day.
I thought I would share some photos I took today.
This is my little man, he is 2 1/2
I can’t believe how big he is.
Unlike a lot of people I enjoy 2 year olds, I think they are the funniest things on the plant,
and they still love their mama’s.
Today he got his own white board, and I let him use a marker, it was a big day for punk#5!
This is my oldest.
This is my homeschool child.
This is the girl who hated to read.
This is the girl who couldn’t and wouldn’t read.
This is the girl who would cry and cry during reading time,
and this is the sweet reward for the many weeks of teaching her to love reading.
(see the doll on her chest, she loves babies and baby dolls, I love that she is able to enjoy her imagination. She wanted to know if I use to read like that when she was a little baby, and you know what? I did!)
It sure does a heart good to see a child grasp what you’ve been teaching. Your little baby boy is growing so fast! So cute!
I can’t get my girls away from books… LOL They spend every second with their noses buried 🙂
I knew your kids would read. You are the Mom that always has more than one book you are reading at a time. You also read in the shower…. They learn from example, and you are a good one.
Mother in training! I’m so jealous of her thick hair too! So cute.
“Nothing particularly interesting has been going on around these parts.” Are you kidding?!
These are huge milestones–not small potatoes at all. A child who learns to love reading will be a lifelong learner. And the baby is already learning to love learning. This is fantastic. This is monumental. This is news worthy. Yeah Mom! Yeah homeschool!
It looks like you’re doing a perfect job!!
And Congrats. to punk #5. You’ll be amazed how much he picks up by watching you with #1.
Keep up the good work.
*hugs*
Hello, I just came across your blog today and have been browsing through.
I have a daughter that I also home school who hates to read crys during reading sessions..but she will read books from the library she just hates her phonics work and the readers from her phonics program. I am really starting to get discouraged. She is in 1st grade and well she is really smart but just hates the logistics of what it takes to learn to read.
Got any suggestions? When I read your daughter did the same, it gave me hope that maybe mine will pull out of this as well. I want all my to be lovers of books.
WHat phonics program did you do and how and when did she finally pull through for you?
Oh by the way nice to meet you!

Good job. Your difficult decision has really paid off. I love how my 2.5 year old fights to be one of the big kids. I agree it is a great age (until he throws a fit, then I’m not so sure).
