Making Christmas

This Christmas season Dadzoo’s parents are across the country in Maryland serving a mission for out church. So we sent them a Christmas care package.

Every year for Christmas Dadzoo goes with my Uncles, Cousins and Brothers-in-law to cut Christmas trees at my uncles ranch in Wyoming. It has been a family tradition to send fresh trees through the mail to the missionaries in the family. Fresh trees have been sent to New Zealand and Argentina! So in the spirit of tradition we sent a live Christmas trees through the US postal service to Dadzoo’s parents in Maryland.

So Grandma and Grandpa Dadzoo would have a nicely decorated tree the kids spend an afternoon making ornaments to trim the tree.

The next day a long package was stuffed with a small live Christmas tree and along with another box filled with gifts and all the ornaments were sent off.

Two days later the packages arrived at the Mission office, Dadzoo’s Mom said she could smell the tree through the box!

Here is a picture of their little tree.

Merry Christmas!

  1. That is a cute idea…It would be fun for our primary to do that if we had a missionary out. But right now we don't and unless one of the older couples go we won't have one till my 2 are old enough to go. Our last missionary came home almost a year ago.

He's going to BYU with his 2 older brothers in Jan…"To find a wife" oh and get a degree in something. LOL

    Love Erika

  2. How stinking fun! Or maybe I should say how nice smelling fun since you said she could smell the tree through the box. 🙂
Just trying to say, what a great idea and how fun to have your kids make ornaments to go with it too.
