House in Order

I have 10 weeks until baby sister is to make her debu, I am feeling a great need to get my house in order, especially considering that we are planning a home birth.  However, I am finding that need to order and clean my home in sharp contrast and conflict to my great need of extra sleep.

  1. Hi Aimee!
I cannot believe how fast this pregancy has passed (well at least for those of you who visit via cyberspace). I was wondering today how did our ancestors do this? A lot of mine had a dozen kids and no modern appliances to help make household tasks easier. I wish some of my female ancestors had left journals so I could learn the secrets of their household management, their lives and their faith.
Do you have anyone who would be willing to come alongside you as a sister and lend a hand? (I know your kids help out as does your husband).
Is this your first home birth? I don’t recall you mentioning one before…
    Blessings,
    Aimee

    • I wonder how my ancestors did it too! I don’t have many journals that tell day to day accounts of how they managed and I wish there were. I would like to know how my ancestors were able to bear children on the long treks west, that blows my mind! I won’t even go for a weekend camping when I am pregnant! LOL! I am sure I could ask my sister for help, I am not feeling overwhelmed at this point, I have a lot of long summer days and my older girls are wonderful workers (as is Dadzoo!). Sometimes when I put my feet up in the afternoon (and eventually fall asleep) I feel conflicted, like I should be doing something, but my laziness (and sore legs) win! 😉 It is all good, baby will get here safe and sound, even in all my closets aren’t cleaned out and there is dust under the fridge. 😉

As for a homebirth, this will be my first. My last baby was completely unmedicated, so I know I can birth without drugs, and I am excited (a little nervous) to do this at home. I am a home body who loves her own bed and bathroom and I HATE staying at the hospital, so I am excited to just be here, and share it with my daughters. 🙂

      • I’ll be praying for you as the time draws closer—you are right, your priority is to get some rest and a few things can wait. I’m very excited for you:)
        Blessings, Aimee

  2. I so wish I could do a home birth. But it’s hard to find a licensed midwife to come out to do a home birth where I live 🙁 Given that (as of right this moment) I haven’t had a baby before, I had no way to tell what I needed in a midwife when I picked my care provider. Good luck in the next 10 weeks!
