A Tooth Tale

Two years ago my BABY GIRL punk (who was just two at the time) decided to take a long ride on her little bike down a short, sloped driveway. Just as she made it down the hill the front wheel caught on the curb and she landed FACE FIRST on the street, the bike on top of her. She scraped up her lip, chin and nose and broke her front tooth. Slowly her two front teeth turned dark gray, kind of ugly, luckily her
sparkling personality
hides the defect.

(here she is before the dentist appointment, you can’t see the color change very well, but you can see the broken tooth)

Last week we noticed a big, pus filled bump on her gum right above the broken tooth. I took her to a neighbor who is a dental hygienist and she told me it was an abscess and that we were OK to wait until Monday when we had an appointment with the dentist anyway. On Monday we all trooped into the dentist office (I think we filled the entire waiting room). When the Dentist looked at it he told me that the tooth would have to come out. He numbed her gums really well (he is really cute, he told her to close her eyes and make a wish while he was using the needle, she had no clue what was going on) and got out the big plyer (I can’t spell that word, and spell check can’t figure it out either) thingies and pulled that tooth right out! She gave him the biggest, crustiest look I have ever seen! She didn’t cry until she realized she was bleeding, then was soothed when they gave her a treasure box to put her tooth in! She got even more excited when she remembered that the

tooth fairy

would be coming!

Now when she

smiles

I have to

laugh

she looks like a

toothless

HILL BILLY!

  1. I think Caden has chipped every tooth in the front of his mouth. But he has an extra, so that sort of makes up for it.

I think she looks so cute! Like a teeny-tiny six-year-old.

  2. That is really cute! I love that she didn’t cry until she saw that she was bleeding! How long till a new tooth grows in?

  3. Sounds like anaventure, but boy is she cute! She pulls of a missing tooth perfectly:)

  4. Ahh the joys of childhood! Does the dentist worry about the hole closing before the new tooth is ready to come in?
She sure has a winning smile!

  5. She looks sooo cute. We have had more trips to the dentist than I care to remember. I always think they are going to be traumatic but the kids always pull through just fine.

  6. So cute, she really is a doll. And nothing could look cuter on a little girl than a missing front tooth!
