Tending Roses

My in-laws gave me this book for
mothers day.
Giving me a book is almost always a sure thing. I love to read. I am a voracious reader. When I FIRST looked at the book I wasn’t so sure I was going to like it. I am not a romance reader, and this book looked like it was going to be a romance. Now, don’t get me wrong, I like a good
love story
as much as the next gal, but I cannot stand a cheesy romance novel. I have a hard time with the syrupy sweet love stories, I like my books to have some substance, to give me something to think about.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It isn’t a sappy love story. It is a book with depth and feeling. It really gives you something to think about on many, many levels. This book will be one of those I read over and over, it is going into my yearly line up, along with the “Little House” books and the “Narnia” books,

it is just that good.
(Someday I will post my list of “yearly books” there are quiet a few!)

I highly recommend this book:

  1. I’m going to jot this book down to add to my list. You know what book has completely enticed my soul… Twilight. The writer is Mormon and there’s 3 books to the series. I HIGHLY recommend it if you haven’t read it yet.

I smiled when I read your comment, because I’ve tried to imagine my life without kids and it never works for me either. In fact, it’s definitely a life I wouldn’t like LOL. I try to remind myself sometimes that there are moms out there who have lost their children or can’t have children and I need to be thankful that I have the privilege to see their smiles, but I guess we all have to get frustrated sometimes… right?

  2. I have read the Twlight series, I like the first book a lot and the second one was good too, but number three got a little to sappy for me. I was a bit uncomfortable with the intensity of their relationship, considering her age. I was disappointed with book number three.

  3. I’ll have to get that one. Anything that can compete with Little House or Narnia has to be good!

  4. I know how you feel about romances. I’m not a huge fan of most. Glad you found another good book!

  5. Nothing like a good book to get you going! By the way would you still recommend it to your “punk baby brother?”
