Our backyard butts up against about a 100 zillion acres of nothing. It is a mixture of private and
BLM property. It isn’t used for anything, just sits there, open and wild and is a great play ground for my children.
I usually won’t let them go up there in the summertime, there are rattlers in them there hills and I am a nervous Mama, however, spring and fall are play time!
This spring my two oldest have been rushing through their school work so they can run up the hill. They are making an “Indian Encampment”.
There are beds, places to store food, cook stove and a fire place.
It is all totally decked out.
My oldest daughter told me not too long ago “Now we have a place to go if we ever need to head for the hills!”
I think she has been listening to
Dadzoo’s and my crazy right-wing nuttiness for too long.
This is awesome! It brings back memories of my childhood – exploring hills and digging a giant hole and putting plywood over it for shelter. Hey and right now we have 2 tires behind us if they want to wheel them up there for anything. =0)
This brings back memories of my children building forts. But they did it with drift wood or pine boughs at the ocean or in the forest.
Love it! Better keep it a secret from all the boys!
You know, I do think we may be sisters!!!!! My husband and I are also right wing nuts and it has definately rubbed off on our girls. They've built what they call "the hut" out back. They've got tires for chairs, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom with a sink. I guess they had to make do since we couldn't afford to build the tree house they asked for. I sure do appreciate their great imaginations. It sounds like our girls would get along fabulously!!!
That means you're doing something right :o) After all, kids play house in order to practice necessary life skills. Is it so bad that they play survival, too?
