Sewing Skirts

Last week was crazy busy, there was something major scheduled for everyday and I am burned out! Luckily this week is blissfully empty (except for an appointment to get family pictures on Thursday) and I am going to work really hard to keep it that way!

I also took on a fun little project amid the craziness and make super cute skirts for my girls, they looked so cute all dressed up I had to take pictures of my brood.

Weekend project

Every Christmas I make pyjamas for my kids
(well almost every Christmas)

I like the look of homemade nightgowns

you can make them as pretty and old fashioned as you want and they are still cute!

My niece is a girly-girl, I have twice made her “dresses” and she loves them, so this year my sister asked if I would make her two daughters nightgowns to give them on Christmas Eve.

I made them this weekend, that way I could give them to my sister when I saw her over Thanksgiving, I don’t know for sure when I will see her before Christmas.

It will be nice to have them done, I have many hours of crafting before Christmas comes.

Including four more nightgowns for my own daughters

The are going to be just the same that way the girl cousins will all have matching nightgowns at Grandma’s house Christmas night.

My own little girls were coveting these girly little nightgowns as I was making them

won’t they be surprised Christmas Eve!

I really enjoy creating beautiful things for the people I love.

Weekend Project

I took my girls to the fabric store on Saturday. They were picking out fabric to make Christmas gifts for each other. (They are making warm rice bags). The yarn section caught my eye. I know how to do very, very basic crocheting. My great-grandma crocheted a lot, she made afghans and stuffed animals and edged baby blankets, all the time, whenever she was sitting down she was crocheting.

I have been wanting a new winter scarf, but I didn’t want to spend the money, being that we are cutting back and not spending on extras. When I passed by all the yard I had to stop and look a little. I found this really pretty red yarn, it is so soft and I love the weave.

I bought it and all Sunday I crocheted on my new scarf. It isn’t anything fancy, I only know how to do the basic stitch, however it was so fun and relaxing to work on and there is a sense of pride knowing I made it. I finished it late Sunday night, all I need to do it add a fringe on the ends (I haven’t decided exactly what I am going to do) and it will be completely done.

Someday I will learn to do fancier work.

Is there anyone out there that can teach me??

Something Light

So the other day my little brother was at my house begging for free food (he is going to BYU and is a starving university student, I just had to feed the poor kid!) he was playing around on his computer with some Weird Al songs. He started playing this song and he and Dadzoo started laughing, saying this was my theme song. Those stinks! So here you go, Momzoo’s theme song.
Now I would like to say that I don’t mean to make fun of the Amish, I am completely fascinated by their lifestyle. Someday when I have the means to do so I am going to live a more agrarian lifestyle, and my family thinks that is just hilarious!

So I figured if Dadzoo was going to make fun of me I could do the same. Here is the White and Nerdy video from Weird Al. Dadzoo fits this to a T! I am not kidding or exaggerating!

Right back at ya babe!
